Rapidsite evolution comes a step closer

The long awaited launch of the new rapidsite software has come a step closer.

This truly is a big deal to not only us here at UFindUs and Customer Street but more importantly to our customers.

Over the last few years we have continued to develop our range of products and services, keeping pace with the ever changing demands placed on us by our customers as well as staying one step ahead of our competition. I think that in general we have been able to achieve both things.

An area that we have however tended to overlook, and which has brought us more brickbats than bouquets, has been our templated websites which we provide free of charge for the majority of our customers. Stuart Laverick, our developer assigned to this  mammoth task has now been left alone long enough to be able to finish an alpha version of the new software.

This prototype has been passed to Stuart Forrest, our technical director with the brief to “do his best to break it”. Stuart will now undertake to pick as many holes in it as possible, checking it thoroughly to see if it has any coding errors before it goes onto the next stage which will involve the creation of the new template skins.

If you haven’t come across the development blog why not check it out, as even from a layman’s point of view it makes interesting reading to learn about the many processes which deliver something we feel will only improve further our ability to continue to deliver a first class service.

UFindUs and Customer Street just keep growing

Having just had a passing chat with Adrian Berry, the Customer Street search engineer, who was telling me that at the last count our directories which include, Smile Local, More UK and of course UFindUs as well as over 140 trades portals, have a staggering 700,000 plus page impressions on the internet.

Is it any wonder that when you look for a tradesman or business on the internet there’s a pretty good chance that sooner rather than later you will be coming across a link to any of our hugely successful business directories or to any of the tens of thousands of websites that we have built for our customers ranging from the humble, but exceptionally search engine friendly rapidsite to our bespoke Premium Design websites.

Check out what I mean, just type in “general builder stevenage” or “electrician london”. The results speak for themselves.

Rapidsite Update

Filed under: Blogroll, rapidsites, www.ufindus.com — ufindus @ 4:42 pm

I have been promised that this week I will be able to get to have a glimpse at the new replacement for the Rapidsite software. Stuart, the developer in charge of this huge project is making real headway and so far between the reports he posts on his own blog and the whispers that drift out of the development room all sound very positive.

I know that he is building this whole thing from the ground up and that the old programme is totally redundant in this new version so I feel quite privileged to see some of the nuts and bolts working of this before most others.

I’m sure that I will share some of what I see with you if not later in the week by early next week.

Turn to UFindUs when you want to find it.

Filed under: Blogroll, UFindUs, rapidsites — ufindus @ 4:51 pm

I thought it would be good to share something that I was told over the bank holiday weekend. My parents will think nothing of buying golf clubs on eBay, enough books from Amazon to stock a small library and book holidays online with Expedia (even though I still struggle to find my way round that site) These silver surfers when armed with a laptop and a cup of coffee are quite content to put their trust in these sites to make purchases and yet they are also the sort of folk who reach for the security of the phone book when they need to find something locally.  Well that seems to have changed. They were looking for someone to give them a quote for some gardening work and thought that they would give UFindUs a try. They now have the names of three people from the directory that they will be calling this week. It is now stored in their favorites and Mum has spent time on adding every birthday and special event to the diary in My UFindUs. I don’t expect that the phone book will be going in the bin just yet, there is something quite comforting in having it tucked away in a drawer, but now they have discovered our online directory who knows what will be next.

UFindUs Delivering Customer Support

Filed under: Customer Support, UFindUs, rapidsites — ufindus @ 4:44 pm

It has not been a surprise to see that over the last 8 months the level of complaints at UFindUs has dropped to an all time low. This has largely been due to the significant steps taken by our sales managers to make sure that the sales teams are giving out relevant information for customers to make the important decision as to whether or not they should purchase a UFindUs product.  Feedback that we have had from our customer support department show that overall levels of customer satisfaction are now exceptionally high, and whilst we cant please everyone our support team is making a great impact in rectifying our customers problems  on the first call. I have had the privilege of spending a morning sat listening to them in action. Considering that our support team has only been up and running since early March they have lived up to and exceeded expectations already. One more point to make is that the volume of second calls coming in, where the issues are still unresolved, are have now dried up to a slow trickle. It can only mean one thing, UFindUs are delivering on their promise to make our customer service experience second to none.

If you have had a recent experience of our customer support team then why not share it with us, we look forward to hearing from you.

UFindUs Department Profile – Web Administrators

Filed under: UFindUs, rapidsites — ufindus @ 4:08 pm

The new team of web administrators are settling into their new roles very well.

They have got to grips with the Rapidsite software and other systems and are now producing some great sites. I know that all of them are looking forward to the new Rapidsite software being released once it s makes it through development. For now however here is a sample of their work which includes putting together the script for the site from information that is provided to us.

Their sites today have covered everything from Villa holidays in Turkey  to therapists, and  central heating engineers  to the Japanese art of Shiatsu   and quite a few other things in between.
